Just ordered this. My sister who is a dental hygienist sent me a link about it. I am a sucker for trying new things! This may cure my romanticism with chew and baseball. An alternative that does not cause cancer, sign me up. On a side note I do not even chew at all, I just think about it a lot, especially stories of Shoeless Joe Jackson spitting chew allover his bats and turning them black.
Well the movie was as I expected awesome! They did an amazing job making the book into a cohesive movie and great story. This will definitely go down as one of the best Baseball movies of all time! Can’t wait to see it again and get the DVD.
A few people wearing A’s hats a bunch of Jays hats , Rangers, Giants and some terrible fashion hats. I I am guessing maybe a 1/3 of the people at the movie even liked baseball and about a 1/4 even watched baseball. So teh movie was successful i drawing non sports people and non basebal fans.
It got me so excited for the postseason!!!
Finally the 23 of September is here and that means the premier of the movie Moneyball. I have been anticipating this date since I first watched the trailer in a hotel room in St. Louis.
I love movies and especially movies based on true stories and about baseball! My favourite baseball movie is The Natural but I like all the others as well.
This is the first time I have ever read a book that was made into a movie so I am excited to see which is better. People generally say the book but we will see.
I have my seats purchased and reserved for tonights opening and I can’t wait!!!

The homies Factor and Kirby Dominant have teemed up once again as Paranoid Castle. After their initial release One Way Ticket in 2004 it was unclear if they would release another record together. They continued to make various songs together over the years which lead to the the sophomore effort Champagne Nightmares on Fake Four Inc.
This is the lead video from the album for the track Orca. The word on the street is a second video for Feeling Inside will be shot this week in the Bay Area!
You can find out more about the record at http://www.fakefourinc.com/item/champagne-nightmares
When a lot of your homies are producers/dj’s/music collectors one of the worst things you can hear is that they are moving. Now moving for the most part is brutal enough, add in a few hundred to a few thousand records and it almost becomes unbearable.
Over the years you try different ways to make the process a little easier or just suck a little less. Many hands generally make quick work and just sucking it up and gutting it out all at once seems to have worked well in the past.
Friends you are off the hook this time, as I can tell you the records are moved. This time, time was the key factor. I had the time to move at my leisure. I just moved a hundred or so every day until the records where all relocated.
Records are all moved for now…
This is one of my favourite pages from a book I got recently called Flip Flop Fly Ball an infographic baseball adventure. Now the reason I posted it is because stickers on fitted caps is probably my only pet peeve in the whole world. I am sure that the author Craig Robinson shares my disdain for the sticker on the hat.
I am a hat wearing guy but I have four simple rules that I live by when it comes to hats.
1. Hats must be worn to the front straight
2. Brims must be bent/curved
3. All stickers/tags must be removed
4. Only official onfield or Cooperstown caps may be worn
Now I am for kids expressing themselves and all that but if I had kids you best believe they would have to subscribe to this hat doctrine or I would be very disappointed in them. Of course I would still love them if they didn’t.
Craig Robinson has a pretty cool website over at
As a preteen I was infatuated with old school black and white photos of baseball players from a simpler time (actually I still am but that is when it began). In particular group pictures of opposing players with one another. I remember a classic pose of DiMaggio and Mantle of the Yankees with the greatest hitter of all time Teddy Ball Game of the Red Sox. All three sluggers standing in front of the dugout posing with their bats resting on their shoulders. I thought about whether the photos were staged or whether it captured one of life’s special moments. I am pretty sure it was staged but I like to think the sluggers where talking about more than the weather or the upcoming game. I like to think they were trading tips and secrets about their approaches to hitting. However as I have aged I have come to realize they probably where talking about good watering holes or some female patron in the stands.
Anyways during the past Saskatoon Men’s Baseball League season I decided to try and capture some of these great shots of our own. After a late season game my team the Pirates was taking on the Black Sox of which two of my homies played for. We got together and took a bunch of pictures and this is my favourite one.
In the picture from left to right Andrew Mellish, me and Ryan Ilg.
